5 onion and lightThe focus for tonight’s acrylic class is bringing abstraction techniques into one’s art practice. I’m approaching abstraction from a conceptual point of view; bringing form to a notion or idea. In this example I do not stray too far away from the real world as it was an onion sprouting in my vegetable bin that caught my attention. ‘Growth’ was my concept. The canvas board I worked on was already an abstract on its own as I had plastered leftover paints on it from other painting sessions. There was no rhyme or reason to the original colour scheme and here I have added lines and more colour to bring out the idea of growth and what’s needed to bring this about: (container, water, and light)6 onion paintingac
