Last night Den and I, in our quest to find events that bring faith and art together, went to Jazz Evensong at Brentwood Presbyterian Church in Burnaby, BC (To be held every Wednesday for the rest of the year). It was a wonderfully restorative evening for me. I did a few quick sketches in my wee diary/sketchbook I carry with me and here are two images of the bass player/singer, Adam Thomas, from last night. When I draw musicians the images seldom look like the person as the aim is not portraiture but rather a visual of my response to the music. I’ll be teaching Acrylics on Wednesdays at Place des Arts for the fall so I’ll miss a chance to go back for awhile but I’ll definitely be looking for more opportunities to hear Adam sing and play in the near future.
