This slice of a painting is a peek at new work being created for an upcoming show in October at Suter Brook Vancity in October. It is the largest painting I’ve ever worked on, 24″ X 48′, and is being created to add to a previous body of work, Stories to Tell. The idea for this and two more works yet to be created was a trip to Utah and the amazing canyons and petroglyphs I found there. Using the blue skies and red rock walls of Southern Utah as my backdrop I painted my storyteller figures into this environment to create a painting of an inner landscape. This slice depicts Sage who I blogged about last year (November 14, 2010). Much of Utah reminded me of the southern edge of Alberta where the concept for Sage first emerged.
