Inspired by Nature

15 Sep

I’ve been away from my computer for awhile but am now getting back into the swing of things for the fall. Three of my five offerings for fall classes at Place des Arts are a go; all on Tuesday. Imagination Station for 3-5 year olds is full and hopefully will have a few more enroll in the 5-7 year old class before the start of classes next week.

One of my two classes for adults is also a go. Joy of Acrylics: Nature as Inspiration has only 4 registered so far but I enjoy teaching the class so much that I will run it regardless of numbers. Hopefully one or two more will find their way to the class before next week. What I’m looking forward to in the class is seeing how others interpret the theme, Inspired by Nature. There is a lot of room for personal style in such a theme. In my small painting of a sun drenched valley in the Crowsnest area, AB, it was the feeling of relentless, shimmering heat that I aimed for. Using bright, complementary colours and a myriad of small strokes gave the painting qualities of brilliance and intensity that describe well the feeling of the day.
