Trumpet the Seahorse

19 Jul

While visiting my Aunt Donna last weekend I found time to finish my latest seahorse creation, Trumpet. Most of the material used to create him was silk that I had dyed with watered down, leftover acrylic paint. The threads I used to stitch with are silk as well.

In nature it is the male seahorses that give birth and the angle that this picture is taken from certainly shows off his round, little belly. I especially like the colour wheel eyes that Trumpet has. I think all the pregnancies around me and the struggle to give birth to my own art work is showing up in this particular piece.
