Stories to Tell

04 Feb

I finally finished the last painting for my upcoming show, “Stories to Tell”, and am now ready to move on to the writing of the artist statements, publicity and other things involved with an exhibit.

I’ve enjoyed the process of translating the 3d figures into paint and seeing what changes occur in the process. I have found I cannot put my intuitive ideas directly into paint but once the figure is complete I seem to be able to continue the musings onto a piece of paper or canvas. I suspect part of the reason is because I’ve been classically trained in drawing and painting but in fibre art I don’t have any sewing background so it is a medium that I am free to explore in without any preconceived ideas or expected outcomes. This freedom of expression is slowly making its way into my drawings and paintings and I look forward to seeing what will happen next with my landscape paintings come summer when I’m outside painting again.
