Heart for Grandmother

29 Aug

The second of four silk hearts this one was created in honour of my Grandmother Wood. She and I were very close and she passed away only a few years ago at 99. Rhoda Blanche lived a full life and loved to dance and laugh and made the most of her minutes while here on earth.

I chose green for her heart because she was so full of life and loved African violets. The deep, red garnet in the middle is a symbol of friendship and passion, both attributes of my Grandmother. Pale pink stitches and a soft violet background show for her ultra feminine nature and the kindness I associate with her.
