NYC Joy close up  Joy A. (MacLeod) Kirkwood

Joy Waddleton-MacLeod graduated with her B.F.A. from Mount Allison, N.B. in 1977.  Experienced in a diversity of mediums including: drawing, painting, Chinese brush painting, papier mâché and fibre arts, Joy has been involved in arts and education for adults and children for over thirty years. In 2008 to 2009 Joy also taught Expressive Art classes at Wellspring Calgary, an innovative cancer support centre in Alberta.

Joy is well known for her mixed media figurative art dolls and for her Personal Journey Doll Workshops.  Since 1995 Joy has presented her workshop at various artistic, therapeutic, educational, and spiritual centres, and privately. Joy taught a course called “Symbology and the Doll” at ACAD, Calgary, AB in 2006-2007. Her work has been showcased by HGTV for their show “That’s Clever” and on City TV.  Joy moved to British Columbia in 2009 and continues to exhibit her work and teach throughout BC and Alberta.

    Hi Joy,
    Thanks for the comment, it prompted me to come take a look at your work and I have to say, Wow! I love what you do! I really like your Sage series and your concept of doing a painting and a soft sculpture.
    I’ve been trying to find a way to rekindle my creative spark.
    I’ve been envolved in studing and reading and have not taken the time to make some art.
    Two Sundays ago at an INfiber (an Indianapolis, In. based fiber group) meeting we did mono printing. Now I’m working on a mixed media paper quilt collage…the juices are flowing again,Thank the Goddess.

    Your work is wonderful! I love it for its lack of inhibition or guile for its freedom of form and for its beauty. Just to look at it is empowering. I am inspired on so many levels;
