I’ve been going through my photographs for 2010, creating some kind of order in my computer as I start 2011. I came across these 2 photographs which were taken on the same day last summer at a beach outside of Victoria BC.  It was the macro and the micro of the beach that fascinated me.

It seems to paint one I need to know the other view as well. There is colour and texture in common with both. At present my paintings seem to focus on one view or the other but I wonder how to bring the two views together into a harmony, a whole or to allow the paradox, to hold both views in unison. What is it I am trying to capture? That is the first question.
